Keeping a Positive Focus On Family and CommunitiesMarch 21, 2003 Approximately 200 people attended a seminar with Dr. Ron Hanson, the evening of March 6 at the Lamar Community College Wellness Center. After a delicious roast beef dinner Dr. Hanson shared a humorous, but motivating, message on human relationships and the problems that can arise when working together. Dr. Hanson was raised on a farm in north-eastern Illinois and is currently a professor of Farm Management and Agricultural Finance in the Department of Economics at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln. Characteristics of a successful farm family, keeping a positive focus during times of low prices, effective communication, strategies to avoid common mistakes, the value of personal time, plus tips for enhancing family relationships and inter-generational families working together were all topics touched on during the evening.
