Fun Festival Hosted by Prairie Queen 4-HMarch 21, 2003 The Prairie Queen 4-H Club did a great job of hosting the 2003 Kiowa County Fun Festival with the theme "Fun in the Sun". Entertainment for the evening included vocal solos, instrumental solos, theatrical group skits, and a one act play. Remington Brandt, Jessica James, and Milly Spady participated in the Master/Mistress of Ceremonies division. They entertained the audience with jokes, allowing the judges time to mark the score sheets, and introduced the acts. Jessica James performed the only vocal solo, singing "Ready to Run". Piano solos were played by Remington Brandt, Jayce Negley, Katie Sanders, and Jessica James. Jennifer Negley was the only woodwind soloist; she played "Western Portrait" on her clarinet.

Milly and Tara Spady’s rendition of Abbot and Costello’s "Who’s on First" delighted the crowd. The Sheridan Lake Livewires one act play entitled "Fun Time Fashion Show" started the evening on a very enjoyable note. A special thank you goes to Bob Seay and Jeremy McNeely for judging the contest and to Dawn James for coordinating with the Prairie Queen Club. The District Fun Festival will be held March 22 in the Humanities Building at Otero Community College beginning at 12:00 noon. Kiowa County can send two blue award entries to district in music and dance events and one theatrical act. State talent eligibility will be based on placing at county, plus district participation.
