Read Across America Celebrated by 2nd GradersMarch 7, 2003 The second graders at Eads Elementary, on Monday and Tuesday of this week, celebrated the National Education Association’s Read Across America program. This program promotes literacy, in addition to showing the fun and importance of reading. The celebration takes place each year on or around March 2, the birthday of Dr. Seuss. On Monday, the second graders made Cat in the Hat hats and watched a Dr. Seuss video. Jennifer Crow and Julie Rife visited our classroom and they each read aloud a Dr. Seuss book to the students. On Tuesday, Rachel Puls read aloud Green Eggs and Ham. Their teacher, Deb Gooden, treated the students to toast, green eggs and ham. Various students read a Dr. Seuss book aloud to their classmates. It was a fun celebration.
