Wild Horse RoundupJanuary 31, 2003 Well tomorrow (Sunday) is the big day for the football fans. I guess I should root for the Raiders, because it seems like when I pick a team they always get beat and I am not a Raiders fan. We had phone call this week from the Sinnes and Pfalgraffs and they wished me a happy birthday. I still got some cards this week which I appreciated, even if they were late. Well the Stock Show came and went which I used to think they couldn’t have without me, but that was many years ago. I guess that is like my dancing days which are a thing of the past I guess. We had a phone call from Harry and Betty Golberg a few days ago. He is Lee’s cousin and they celebrated 50 years together. Their whole family of 47 was there. They had eight children and the children had children and one of them has 11, so the family grows. There are 24 grandkids and some greats, but I don’t know the county for sure.

Basketball Friday night Kit Carson played Cheyenne Wells. Our kids won all their games, but Saturday against Stratton it was different as the varsity teams lost. It was the boy’s first loss. I got a pleasant surprise Thursday while at the clinic in Limon. A fellow stood up and shook hands. He looked familiar, but I have trouble with names. His name is John Olsen and he umpired ball games, oh so many years ago. I have no idea how many friends I made over the years through baseball. He lives in Limon. Friday evening we had a phone call from Wanda Brent of Arriba. She asked if we got channel 7 on TV and she said Norway was on. They were showing Keiko the whale swimming in the fjord. It’s about a 20 minute drive from Lee Ann’s. While watching they showed a sign with the name Halsa on it down by the ferry. That is where she gets groceries and such and Kirsti catches the ferry to go to school. We talked to Lee Ann and girls Saturday and she said things are going pretty well except it is raining and cold. John was busy at what he likes that is tying flies. He loves to fly fish. Lee Ann said they would be coming home in the fall. Kirsti will come in August to go to school in Hugo and Lee Ann and girls in October. I hope I’m not crippling around them like I am now. |
