Tori States Chosen as Outstanding Junior 4-H Member

Fourteen-year-old Tori States of Prowers County has been chosen as the District VI Outstanding Junior 4-H Member for the month of January. The five-year member of the Fair Dinkum Outfit 4-H Club has been involved in horses, market sheep, cooking, spinning, cake decorating, leather craft, veterinary science, weaving, and breads through her years in 4-H. She is active on the club, county, district and state levels, participating in District All-Nighters; Creative Cooks; county, district, and state Fun Festival; 4-H Camp; County 4-H Council; Toys for Tots, Food for Families; and even helping with a leaders training workshop. Tori helps organize committees and is able to run a 4-H meeting if no officers are present.

Tori says she is involved with 4-H because "every year it just gets better. I have fun from meeting people, getting to go places, and actually be involved with our county’s fair." She has learned to communicate with people, both her age and older, and improved her public speaking skills. This Wiley Middle School eighth-grader is also involved in student council, Prowers County Rodeo Princess, square dancing, and class committees. Congratulations, Tori!
