Kiowa County 4-H Council ReportJanuary 31, 2003 The 4-H Council gathered in Eads on January 20, 2003. The meeting was called to order by President, Brian James at 7:03. The following people attended the meeting: Brian James, Megan Fickenscher, Shalyn Laird, Milly Spady, Vincent Koeller, Kaye Kasza, Bruce Fickenscher, Bonnie Lessenden, Brenda Fickenscher, Shannon Dixon, Dawn Lewis, Linda Stum, and Gail Koeller. The Colorado Youth Fund was the first item discussed. It was decided that the council will pay $1.00 per member and the 4-H clubs will pay $1.00 per member to the Council, for this fund. The County Horse Show will be held June 7, 2003. The Leadership Development Conference was discussed next and there is one position open for a 4-H member 14 years and older. This conference will be held February 1 and 2 in Denver. If you are interested please call the Extension Office this week. Washington Focus applications are due March 3. Members and leaders the Welding Project Book is in at the Extension Office. This project is a County Project for 12 year and older members. If interested you can view the book at the Extension Office. It was decided upon that Prairie Queen would host the Fun Festival on March 7, 2003.

There will be a living Snow Fence put in west of the fairgrounds, volunteers are needed to plant trees, lay drip line and lay weed barrier. This is an excellent Community Service Project for our clubs. The trees should be in the Extension Office mid-March. The Club Tubs are in at the Extension Office these tubs are for safe keeping of our 4-H club records. If you have any items (Scrapbooks, Treasurers Books, Secretary’s Books, anything of historical value) from the past 4-H years, please bring them to the Extension Office. All First and Second Year Leaders: A mandatory First and Second year Leader Meeting is set for March 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the Extension Office. A dessert bar will be provided. Leaders with small children can bring them to this meeting; 4-H members who have taken the 4-H Child Care Unit will be there to take care of your children. As an announcement, Haswell Mile Markers will be having a Valentines Dance in Haswell February 15. A money donation or canned goods will be your entry fees. Colorado State University, United States Department of Agriculture and Kiowa County Cooperative Extension Programs are available to all without discrimination. Our next Council meeting will be February 10, 2003 at Haswell at 7:30. |
