United for Children" is the theme for the 4th annual Baby Bear Hugs Gala. The purpose of this event is to gain new insights into parenting, learn about healthy brain development, celebrate Baby Bear Hugs volunteers, and to "Unite for Children." The Gala will be held at the Washington County Event Center, 552 West 2nd in Akron on Saturday, February 15. There will be a luncheon at noon followed by awards and a presentation by Dr. Lockwood.

Dr. Linda Lockwood, our featured speaker, has her PhD. In neuroscience and is with the department of Psychology at Metropolitan State College in Denver. Her presentation will be titled: Tools for Healthy Brain Development." This talk will focus on the tools available to support healthy brain development in children. Recently there have been a great number of new discoveries in brain development and many of these

discoveries have resulted in recommendations for product purchases and new program implementation. This presentation will look realistically at what tools you need to promote healthy brain development in a child who is ready to engage in lifelong learning and service in a society where the opportunities are endless.

Immediately following the Gala we invite you to stay for a bonus presentation "A word about Fathers." This will be an informative interactive session that will be guided by those in attendance.
