KCEDF Updates

Kiowa County Economic Development Foundation assists local governments, organizations businesses and individuals with a variety of projects during the year. In an effort to more fully inform the public on KCEDF activities, we have assembled a review of our major projects in 2002. If you have questions or would like more specific information, please feel free to call our office at 438-2200. Suggestions and ideas are always welcome.

KCEDF Project Review-2002

Healthcare: Impact Assistance grant assistance-Weisbrod HVAC - $250,000 funded. Assisted with completion of Master facility plan. Caring for Colorado grant application - $100,000 pending.

Transportation: Impact Assistance grant for Kiowa County Road 49 - $95,000 funded. Serve as contact on the Ports-to-Plains task force. Impact Assistance grant for Kiowa County Maintenance Building - $100,000 funded.

Community Development: CDBG grant for Kiowa County Daycare - $250,000 funded. CDHS grant for Kiowa County Daycare - $36,000 funded. Acting as project manager for K.C. Daycare. First KCEDF grant to Eads Golf Club – $3,000 awarded. KCEDF grant to Sage Services - $250 awarded. Participated in community growth meetings for East End at Plainview School. Assisted with completion of Kiowa County Comprehensive Plan. Obtained donation of computer for Town of Sheridan Lake. Organized summer Saturday’s Farmers’ Market

 

Recreation: Assist with GOCO grant for Eads Sports Complex - $150,000 pending. Assisted West Kiowa Rec with annual budget process.

Arts & Culture: CCA grant for Artists of the Plains - $500 funded. Assisted Artists of the Plains with Cooper Clark grant - $1,000 funded. 2nd CCA grant of the year (3rd total) - $375 funded. Worked with National Park Service on Sand Creek establishment and Gateway community planning.

Business: Assisted several start-up and existing businesses with financial and research information. Assisted Kiowa County Growers with CAVD grant - $243,000 funded.

Regional: Board of Directors of Action 22. Chairman of Economic Development Committee. Regional Representative for Tourism Committee. Organizing partner of the Arkansas Valley Area Marketing Coalition – 5 county region. EDC grant for Arkansas Valley Area Marketing Coalition - $50,000 funded. Steering committee for Southeast Philanthropy Days.
