About Town

Krista Collins formerly of Eads was married to Billy Elam in Dighton, Kansas in December. Her parents, Charlie and Leanna Collins, of Eads and grandparents, Bob and Renee Woods and other relatives went to take part in and enjoy the wedding festivities in Kansas.

Sincere sympathy to the family of Irene Troue formerly of Kit Carson whose funeral was last Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. She has been a long time friend of ours and too many folks around Eads. She was especially fond of men and women who were her students in country schools in the area. God bless and comfort her family is the prayer of her friends.

Christmas holiday visitors in the Roy V. Pearcey home have been their daughter and family, Ken and Diana Flory of Oviedo, Florida and Kale Flory of Las Animas. Also Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Wilson, Lamar; Mrs. Denny Igou, Lacey and Hans, Stuart, Oklahoma; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Bennett, Holyoke; Mrs. Roger Brelsford and Kyla, Pine Bluffs, Wyoming; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Igou, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Diel, Mr. and Mrs. Max Owens, Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Hebberd, Alice Weil, and Mrs. John Dixon all of Eads.

Dreama took me to Lamar to go shopping where we had a wonderful fun afternoon. Coming home, we saw white geese that were so beautiful as they lit by the side of the road on the fields. They looked white as snow on the hill side. That was the most snow geese I have ever seen and there are no maize fields this time of the year for them to feed on. We also enjoyed watching the lovely sunset in hues of pinks and blues. I surely do miss the sunsets here in town. That was another advantage of living on the farm.

On New Year Day we were greeted by a beautiful snow fall. We are so thankful to start the New Year with moisture and pray for a lot more to come. Colorado surely needs the snow. It was a great day to watch the Rose Bowl Parade.

Charles and Sis Howard were in western Nebraska several days to attend the funeral and gathering for her cousin, "Freckie", who used to visit her mother, Ida Weber, often.

Sincere sympathy to Barbara McCoin and family of Eads whose father recently passed away in Opelousas, Louisiana. God bless and comfort this family is the prayer of their friends.

Elizabeth and other selected seniors from area schools were recognized at the Lamar Cow Palace at a brunch Saturday the 4th. Elizabeth’s parents, Gary and Cheryl Davis accompanied her to the brunch. Eads DAR member, Faye Barber, also attended the event.

Barb Seay and Mike Arth visited us Friday afternoon. Mike is now in Burlington where they were en route to return him to his home.

After several months of being in the hospital, our dear friend, Vivian Gifford, is back in Eads. Her son and wife, Chuck and Joan Pollycutt, were here from California over the holiday. Before Christmas Don and Karen Gifford were here from Texas and helped her out as well as spent time with Karen’s parents, Rich and Maxine Hockett. Now the couples have gone home and Vivian has other helpers. She said she is glad to be back in her home.

Jessica Borns has returned to her college in Dallas, Texas after spending her vacation with her parents, family, and friends at home.

Happy Birthday to our long-time cowboy friend, Red Craven, of Kit Carson, who is celebrating his birthday this week. God Bless him.

School began Monday; I think all are ready to go back. In spite of the many practices, I’m sure the break was good for all. Happy New Year to you all. College students also are looking forward to the challenges of the next semester.

Our sympathy to the family of Sara Cullen of Kit Carson who passed away last week.

My grandchildren, Celena and Tearle, came in Friday evening and took down our Christmas tree and decorations. This is so appreciated and nice to have a little time with them.

Phil and Madonna Pollreis visited us last week on their way home from Denver. His mother, Rosamond, accompanied them there to spend time with the grandchildren and family.

After many weeks of recuperating, it was good to get to go to church and so good to see our church family.
