Obituary - Maudie May Singer – 98Maudie May (French) Singer was born October 12, 1904 in Compentine, Iowa, the oldest of nine children of William Charles and Stella M. (Byerly) French. Most of her childhood was spent in Iowa except for a few years when the family lived in Oak Creek, Greeley, and Haxton, Colorado. In June of 1923 the family moved to a homestead south of Haswell, Colorado where she was living when she met Clarence A. Singer. They were married on November 3, 1924. To this union were born five children. She is survived by her children: Wayne L. Singer of Eads, Vivian (Delbert) Olson of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Verne (Wanda) Singer of Krembling, William "Bill" (Deloris) Singer of Nuevo, California and Lawrence "Larry" (Lennie) Singer of Silverthorn; 14 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 6 step-great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, 1 step-great-great grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters, her husband Clarence A. Singer, and one grandchild. Maudie May Singer passed away on October 22, 2002 at the Weisbrod Nursing Home in Eads at the age of 98 years and 10 days. Her gentle, sweet and compassionate spirit will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. Funeral services for Maudie M. Singer were held on Sunday, October 27, 2002 at the First Christian Church in Eads with Pastors Steve Puls and Alvin Clamp officiating. Mrs. Philomene Liesen was the pianist. Maudie’s son-in-law, Delbert Olson was the vocalist singing "The Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Precious Lord Take My Hand." Serving as casket bearers were: Dennis Singer, Verne R. Singer, Randy Singer, Clay Singer, Tim Olson, John Singer, Gary Singer, Jack Singer, Mike Singer, Mike Williams and Rod Johnson. The final committal services were held at the Haswell Cemetery. Brown Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. |
