Obituary -  Julia Mae Brenton – 102

Julia Mae Brenton was born March 6, 1900 to Bernard and Josie Greenwell in Neosho County, Kansas near Erie. She was the ninth child and first daughter of 13 children. She passed away at the age of 102 years, 7 months, 12 days.

Her parents were farmers and moved to a farm in Butler County, Kansas near Beaumont when Julia was two years old. She attended a country school. She was baptized and attended the Little Walnut Baptist Church as a young lady.

She was united in marriage to Harry Brenton on March 28, 1919. To this union two children were born, a daughter Evelyn and a son Ivan. They lived in Kansas until 1929, when they moved to the Prairie Queen community, seventeen miles northwest of Eads. They farmed there for many years. Julia was a good wife, mother, and neighbor. She was pleased to see Dan and Evleyn reach their 50th wedding anniversary in 1995 and Ivan and Rosalee in 1997.

She leaves her children Evelyn (Dan) Garner, Ivan (Rosalee) Brenton; four grandchildren, Jim Garner, Gale (Bonnie) Garner, Joe (Kathy) Brenton, Christine (Daryl) Lovett; seven great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, and two special friends Rosie Garner and Lana Christie.

Funeral services for Julia Mae Brenton were held Wednesday, October 23, 2002 at the United Methodist Church in Eads. Rev. Gary Goettel and L.D. Nelson officiated the services. The Blooding girls, Mary Eikner, Sylvia Weeks and Areta Laird sang "Beautiful Garden of Prayer" and "The Home Over There" accompanied by Philomene Liesen and Betty Crow.

Serving as casket bearers were: Walter Immer, Cardon Berry, Kenneth Jacobs, Harvey Kelley, Rick Buck and Tim Weeks. Honorary casket bearers were: George Jacobs, Edwin Negley, Danny Weisdorfer, Ward Wissel, Burrel Wissel, Keith Wissel, Duane Wissel, Duane Stoker, Les Rittgers, Norman Whaley, and Gerald Miner. Final committal services were at the Eads Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Eads United Methodist Church. Brown Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
