Merle L. Crockett was born April 2, 1940 at Kinsley, Kansas to Remer and Mildred Marie (Caswell) Crockett. Merle passed away at his La Junta home on September 16, 2002.
Merle married Janet Bender on January 20, 1985. Merle enjoyed farming and ranching, leather and wood working, and his miniature classic car collection. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Services were held September 19, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in La Junta, with the Rev. Gary Zilm of the church and Rev. Claire Zilm of the Las Animas Methodist Church officiating.
Merle was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Janet of La Junta; Children: Vickie Nolan of Tribune, Kansas; LeRoy "Butch" (Marguerite) Crockett of McPherson, Kansas; Melissa (Craig) Painter of Elkhart, Kansas; Merlene (Ronnie) Robinson of Cheyenne Wells, Colorado; Julie (Darrin) Eck of La Junta; Jodi (Brett) Rasmussen of Estes Park; Jayne (Brady) Thompson of Haviland, Kansas; Sister: Mildred (Ralph) Winholtz of Victoria, Kansas; Brothers: Dan (Darla) Crockett of Brighton and Charles (Tammi) Crockett of Brandon; 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Arkansas Valley Hospice Association, P.O. Box 1067, La Junta, CO 81050 directly or through Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home who was in charge of arrangements.
